Into children's mission Overcoming in Simferopol has come a letter from the ruling bishop of the Simferopol and Crimean diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MT) of metropolit Lazar:

"Intimately I thank you for the information on a charitable concert hold on July, 29, 2004 in Sebastopol for the benefit of the fifteen-year Crimean girl Valya Polischuk, suffering from an oncological disease.

My heart is pleased, that the destiny of this child has not left indifferent hearts of Cremians, and a necessary money resources were collected for her treatment.

I shall uplift the prays about health and healing of Valya.

God bless you.

+ LAZAR, metropolit of Simferopol and Crimea "

And at the same time to the account of Mission an amount of 500 grivnas for the needs of ill children is transferred from the Crimean diocese.

Valya lives in Crimea from the birth. Two years back a severe diagnosis was defined: Lymphogranuloma – cancer of lymphatic knots. The diagnosis is severe, but not hopeless: Lymphogranuloma is most cured kind of a cancer among children. After a long and heavy rate of treatment 95 % of the small patients survive it!

Valya was less fortunate: on April 29, 2004 the girl has got a relapse of illness.

But it is not a sentence. The modern programs of treatment frequently allow to achieve success even when the first rate has appeared to be ineffective.

Valya is a very adult person. She completely informed about her serious illness; together with the mum participates in all conversations with the doctors, discusses the strategy and tactics of the treatment. By finding out about a relapse Valya has told: "I shall be treated, instead of die". The girl does not lose the courage, she still cheerfully smiles and trusts: the illness will be defeated.

Even going trough a treatment, Valya continues to learn English language. She wants to know it perfectly to travel worldwide.

The family of Valya: her mum Svetlana, junior brother Vitaly, grandmother and grandfather. They together with Valya needed to take a complicated decision: in what medical establishment to continue treatment. After some considerations the choice was made for the Russian Medical Radiological Center in city Obninsk - medical establishment, which informally name is a "Centre of Lymphogranuloma".

Unfortunately in Russian Federation Valya and it family are foreigners, and all medical services given to the girl in the Center are PAID.

All rate of treatment - stay in hospital for necessary medical manipulations, medicinal preparations – costs, converted into the Ukrainian currency approximately 37 thousands grivna’s. (6900 USD). For Valya’s family to collect such sum it is impossible. But they are not alone.

The mission searches the means for a payment of treatment by all possible methods: through direct contacts, through press and internet. In May and June was collected about 13 thousand grivna’s. It has allowed to pay first three cycles of poly-chemotherapy and costs accompanying it. On June 4 Valya has began a course of therapy in Obninsk Radiological Center.

WE SEARCH FOR MEANS FOR A PROLONGATION
OF VALYA’S TREATMENT !
